Next March 4th to 8th, the US hardwood industry will once again take part in the Indiawood show in Bangalore. However, this time, 12 key hardwood lumber and veneer exporters from the United States will be joining the American Hardwood Export Council (AHEC) under the banner of the American Hardwood Pavilion.
The changing face of India’s wood processing industry is attracting increasing interest in imported hardwood products for furniture and joinery manufacturing. In recognition of this, AHEC has maintained a programme of activities in India for the past six years, which have been designed to raise awareness and improve knowledge levels of American hardwoods. At the same time, US hardwood exporters have become increasingly active in the Indian market and the upcoming Indiawood show will provide an ideal platform for them to showcase their products.
The American Hardwood Pavilion will occupy over 200 square metres of space at the Bangalore International Exhibition Centre. AHEC, itself, will occupy a large area for demonstrating hardwood lumber grading and for distributing technical publications and generic information on US hardwood species. The remaining area will be taken by 12 individual American hardwood exporting companies, in addition to the State of Pennsylvania and the Hardwood States Export Group (HSEG), which is a coalition of 13 major US hardwood exporting states. The US exporters participating in the American Hardwood Pavilion are as follows: Gutchess Lumber, Northland Corporation, Augusta Lumber, Graf Brothers Lumber, Northland Forest Products, Cersosimo Lumber, Coulee Region Hardwoods, Mayfield Lumber, Turman Wood Group, Danzer Veneer Americas, Sonoking Corporation and Wheeland Lumber.
