With tremendous growth in real estate sector such as residential, commercial and retail and rise in the disposable income of the country’s middle class, there is an anticipated exponential growth in the demand for interior infrastructure products. Looking at the large potential ahead in the Indian market for engineered panel products like Medium Density Fibre Boards (MDF) and particle boards, Greenply is setting up India’s largest MDF plant (Brand name – PANELMAX) with an annual capacity of 1,80,000.00 Cubic Meters at a cost of US $ 52 million i.e. Rs.250 crores. This will be India’s first line incorporating world leader Dieffenbacher’s state of the art CPS continuous pressing technology. The line will also incorporate Metso’s latest generation EVO refiner, a latest Steinemann Satos 8 head sanding line (the first in India), and the unique Lukki 2 dimensional panel storage system supplied by Dieffenbacher.
The government’s restrictions on plywood has also resulted in the additional growing demand of the panels to be met by engineered panel products like MDF and particle boards.
The fact that these engineered panels have very high utilisation of raw material resources as opposed to plywood, and considering India’s scarce supply of raw material, has resulted in the government strongly promoting the manufacturing of these products.
Greenply’s PANELMAX MDF Board’s plant is scheduled to commence production by March 2010. Greenply plans to manufacture MDF in the following range:
- Plain Medium Density Fibre Board (MDF): Thickness: - From 2.5mm to 35mm.
- Plain High Density Fibre Board (HDF) Thickness: - From 2.5mm to 35.00mm
- Pre-laminated Medium Density Fibre Board: Thickness: - From 2.5 mm to 35.00 mm.
- Sizes:- 8’x6’; 8’x4’;7’x6’;7’x4’;6’x4’
Greenply’s project will also contribute socially by way of creating demand of agro-forestry timber and in turn helping farming community. |
