In what is being heralded as growing worldwide appreciation of Indonesian furniture products, companies secured orders said to be worth over US$380,000 during the Middle East International Furniture and Interior Design Exhibition (INDEX) 2009, which was held from November 14 to November 17, 2009, at the Dubai World Trade Centre.

The head of the national exports development agency said that the interest in Indonesian furniture supported the view that Indonesian timber products are gaining acceptance in the Middle-Eastern countries, Pakistan, East Asia and Africa.

At the fair Indonesia was represented by 21 companies including some agencies operated by governmental institutions. The fair had exhibits from 1,750 companies and agencies including Malaysia, Taiwan PoC, Vietnam, and China.
